Self-aware is a term i use to refer to black who finally realize that the finally type of unit is the best way to go. People talk about all the thing we lost in slavery but the most important thing that we lost was the true value of the family system.
There actually are younger blacks that are family oriented!!!!

Co-sign 200% Reignsupreme. Too many sistas date and breed with the WORST kind of guys in their prime. Of course, when they are older, fatter, and not so attractive anymore, they want those same decent, mature, reliable, black men with the good head on his shoulders. The guys they TURN DOWN in their youth because he was “too nice”
So true!!!

Black women tend to make the mistake of sleeping on the quality brothers. They bum fuck in their youth and expect a good brother to marry them in their 30’s. Good brothers are wising to that game. It worked back in the day by real cats can see right through it.
As bad as this sounds, and as much as women dont want to hear it, the reality is, its nothing but the truth.
They confuse independence with self sufficiency.
And they are not independent from the system, their jobs, rent, mortagage, cell bill, etc etc……..so I laugh at that rhetoric for what it is. Pure ignorance.
Thats true, because men actually benefit in a lot of ways from being a little older. Look at the most desired Hollywood actors; Brad Pitt, Denzel, George Clooney etc. These are all middle aged cats who could get any woman they want, we all know women love older men. Women however dont really have that option, women dont benefit with age and an older woman will turn down a man 5 years younger than her with the quickness, and that shallowness hurts them.
This why I never really understood the concept of an “independent woman”. I mean sure she’s independent from men, but they aren’t independent from other women.
i agree
That’s why you have so many angry BW in their late 30’s/early 40’s who can’t get the kind of man they want.
Part 2–
Now for men I believe its a little different. If a man is on a decent path and takes car of himself his value can actually go up as he gets older. A guy in his late 20’s and early thirties who still takes care of himself and has his stuff together can easily get a woman in her early 20’s (in decent “cultures” that is because alot of bw are still acting like teenagers at this age). but for women as they get older it just doesnt work that way.
Its as simple as this– womens clock runs out fast. I hate to do this comparison but the majority of non-black women in America get this. They may be acting wild in High School but by the time 21-22 comes around they are seeking out the right guys and attempting to atleast try to behave like a proper wife.
Finally waking up at 30 for a woman 95% of the time is too late.
Alot of young (and old) bw are so far ingrained into a dysfunctional culture though that their not really hearing it.
Settling down ages may be different for different people. But at the same time there is nothing wrong with men & women maintaining great relations throughout their 20’s until it is time to get a mate.
That part is where black women all too often fail. They should be establishing good relationships with the hardworking, struggling nerdy guys in the late teens & 20’s so that when it comes time to establish a relationship going into marriage, then a great man will be there waiting for them.
I grew up in a two parent household but if you went to college, younger than 25 is IMO is too young. Being family oriented does mean that you can wait until close to 30 if that is when you feel ready. BTW I know that you are talking about getting married first right? b/c there are a lot of black folks who have kids prior to 25. As for women, we get so much pressure from our mothers to give them grandbabys fresh out of college.
